| Abstract | The main goal of this paper was look for the relationship between the forest dendrometric parameters and the radiometric image response obtained by a SAR sensor (Synthetic Aperture Radar) multipolarized, using multivariable regression techniques. The radar images were obtained during a surveying campaign in the Tapajos National Forest area (Pará state), with 1.7m resolution. The final results pointed out that the biomass variable and volume were better explanied by the regression with the images in the HH polarization (s°HH), meanwhile the DBH presented better relationship with the combination of VV polarization and BMI index and the logarithm of biomass was better explanied by the CSI index. The probable reazon for this behaivour would be the fact that the vegetation under study had a complex structural arrangement, with great variability of individual density, and presence of many big horizontal branches, as well as dinstict floristic composition. | ||||||
